Can the at-fault drivers insurance company refuse to compensate me because I was driving without insurance?

Regardless of whether you have the required insurance or you don’t have the required insurance, the at-fault driver owes you for whatever harm they caused. Now, if the at fault driver has insurance, then their insurance company owes you for whatever harm the at fault driver caused. It doesn’t matter whether you had a license or you didn’t have a license, it doesn’t matter you had insurance or you didn’t have insurance. The fact of the matter is that somebody caused an accident that damaged your property or injured your body and whoever caused that accident is responsible for paying for it.
