Can a private individual be held accountable if a drunk driver leaves their home and then injures or kills someone?

Private parties at people’s houses, somebody leaves drunk, and they hurt somebody after they left the party. Can whoever threw the party be held accountable for it? Here’s a lawyer’s answer for you: Maybe. The “maybe” is this: If the person that they gave the alcohol to, or that they let drink, is a minor, then they’re going to be held accountable for it. However, if the person that they let drink, gave alcohol to, is an adult, then the private citizen, not responsible for whatever that grown-up does after they leave the party or leave the house.
